The official opening of the exhibition of photos taken in the former Nazi death camp in Auschwitz by Barbara Eva Ostrowska took place on 26th June 2021. The Consulate initially planned to open the exhibition in the spring of 2020, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the death camp, but due to the coronavirus restrictions, the opening had to be moved to a more distant date.

The opening ceremony took place at the General Sikorski Memorial House in Glasgow. The Consulate was represented by the Consul General Ireneusz Truszkowski, Sylwia Spooner and Anna Schaffner. The board of the General Sikorski Memorial House was represented by: Chris Sagan, Margot Sagan, Kenneth Rybarczyk and Izabela Czekaj. The ceremony was led by Chris Sagan, who is the chairman of the Memorial House committee. The event was enriched by the performance of the soprano singer Magdalena Durant, who performed three songs related to the exhibited photos. During the evening, the invited guests could also watch a short film commissioned by the Consulate, exploring the subject of the exhibition and containing reflections by Judy Russell, daughter of an Auschwitz survivor, on the Holocaust.

The event was held in a limited form, in accordance with the current guidelines of social distancing, and only 35 people could take part in the ceremony. The exhibition is currently available for viewing at the General Sikorski Memorial House in Glasgow.
