On 18 August, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh, in cooperation with the Edinburgh International Festival, organised a reception with the participation of the Minister for Public Finance in the Scottish Government, Ivan McKee. The reception was followed by a concert by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra
As part of this year's programme, the Consulate in Edinburgh supported the performance of Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński as part of the ensemble II Pomo d'Oro, which presented "Tamburetta from Canzoni e concerti" by Adam Jarzębski at the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh on 3 August.
On 18 August at the Usher Hall, the Consulate co-hosted a reception before the concert of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, performing, among others, 'Concerto for Orchestra' by Witold Lutosławski and a reception for many prominent guests, including representatives of the Scottish Government and Parliament, local authorities and representatives of cultural institutions in Scotland. The event attracted great interest and an enthusiastic reception of Lutosławski's concert by the festival audience.
In their speeches, Mr Alistair Mackie, Chief Executive of the RSNO, Scottish Minister Ivan McKee, and Katherine Planas, Director of Development at Edinburgh International Festival, all emphasised the need for closer cultural cooperation between Scotland and Poland.
