Polish Wine Day

18.04.2024

The Polish Embassy in London hosted a special reception to promote the Polish wine industry among British and international partners. Ten Polish wineries, a special delegation from the Lower Silesia Voivodeship, and the renowned sommelier Maciej Nowicki were present.

Polish Wine Day

Ambassador Professor Piotr Wilczek opened the event. In his welcoming remarks, the Ambassador commented on the unique qualities of Polish wines in comparison to widely available options: “Indeed, while Polish wines are yet to enjoy the widespread recognition of their counterparts from more established wine regions, it is precisely this element of novelty that makes them all the more intriguing.”

According to the data provided by the National Centre for Agricultural Support, in 2024, sales in Poland will be conducted by more than 470 wineries, with over 607 winegrowers and wine producers. The trend shows a lot of promise, with steady and continuous growth.

Albeit historically significant, dating back to the X century, Polish viticulture still needs to be discovered by a wider audience. The contemporary Polish wine industry has been showing great promise, with winemakers harnessing their expertise and innovative approach to the product to carve out their niche in the market.
