Two notable anniversaries were celebrated in Ambassador Piotr Wilczek’s official Residence: the centennial of Pope John Paul II’s birth and the 210^th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin’s birth. The evening’s guests were treated to a piano recital featuring the works of Chopin and performed by virtuoso Brian Ganz. The event was sponsored by the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, which presented its newly-published calendar containing photos of John Paul II taken by his personal photographer, Arturo Mari. Guests included the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Christophe Pierre; ambassadors accredited to the US; and representatives of the US administration, think thanks, and Catholic communities.
