Commemoration of the Polish Righteous at the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust

Polish Righteous were honored at the Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles.
The Consulate General of The Republic of Poland and Los Angeles Museum of The Holocaust (LAMOTH) together with Holocaust survivors, veterans, diplomatic corp’s representatives and Polish community in Los Angeles commemorated Righteous Gentiles from Poland. On December 2nd, 2019 in the oldest museum of The Holocaust in The USA a tree and commemorative plaque were dedicated to Poles who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust.
During the ceremony LAMOTH CEO, Beth Kean and Consul General of Poland gave their speeches. Ms Kean underlined the fact that the quarter of recognized by Yad Vashem’s title of Righteous Among the Nations, 6992 people, are Poles.
In his speach Consul General, Jarosław Łasiński noticed that Polich aid for Jews consisted of a range of different actions, starting with single people making an endeavour to help and ending with systemic actions taken by The Polish Underground State. Moreover, Mr Łasiński underscored that there where a lot of persons and groups which have not been commemorated yet. As an examples he gave Witold Pilecki, Jan Karski, Ulms family, Żegota Council and Ładosia Group which took it’s name after a group of Polish diplomats and Jewish activists in Switzerland who were illegaly printing fake passports of Latin American countries during the World War Second to rescue European Jews.
The commemorative plaque and the tree are located in Pacific Park whick surrounds the museum.
