The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, DC took part in the annual Kids Euro Festival, a cultural-educational initiative led by the Delegation of the European Union to the United States for children living in the DC metropolitan area.

For this year’s edition of the festival, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland organized a series of culinary workshops on November 2nd and 3rd at Cookology in Arlington, VA  for children ages 7-16, called "Learn to Cook, Polish Style!” During the classes, participants were able to help prepare traditional Polish meals with a vegan twist. The event allowed them to learn about the Polish culinary tradition, which is heavily based on the usage of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Our rich culinary traditions, which our young chefs were able to experience first-hand, were presented in an original way that, at the same time, dovetailed with modern healthy eating trends.

The workshops were led by two professional chefs who own APTEKA, a successful Central and Eastern European restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA. On the first day of the event, participants made apple pancakes, and on the second, the children had the opportunity to create the dish most closely associated with Poland – pierogi. The occasion was received enthusiastically by our young partakers.
