Visit the Embassy for #EUOpenHouse!

12.05.2022

EU Open House

EU Open House is back, and with it, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland's historic chancery is open to the public!

This Saturday, May 14th from 10 AM to 4 PM, we invite you to visit the oldest continuously serving Embassy building among Washington, D.C.'s diplomatic missions! The Embassy is located at 2640 16th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20009.

***

Stop by and enjoy the building's 100 years of history and a host of other exciting events:

Superheroes galore! - Maria Skłodowska-Curie, Nicolaus Copernicus, Kazimierz Funk, Maria Czaplicka – these and other Polish superheroes revolutionized the world of science. At our EU Open House, you will join the Academy of Superheroes and delve into the world of scientific discoveries and geographical expeditions. You will also have a chance to meet our special guest – Dr. Tomasz Rożek – one of Poland's most popular science communicators (think: Bill Nye the Science Guy!). Dr. Rożek will share with us his vast experience and the wonders of science. You can also try your hand at a special card game on Polish scientists!

Piano performances! - Acclaimed Polish pianist Martin Labazevitch will serenade our guests throughout the day on Ignacy Paderewski’s piano – a 150-year-old piano! – in our spectacular Blue Salon, where historic Polish-American meetings and discussions have been taking place since 1919.

Support Ukraine! - Poland is deeply engaged with the international community's #StandWithUkraine efforts. As such, we're dedicating one of our rooms to showing you how, in the spirit of solidarity, Poles have opened their hearts and homes to our Ukrainian friends. We will also provide you with ideas on how you, too, can support Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees.

Polish goodies! - While you're here, pick up some Polish gifts to take home, including books, t-shirts and postcards. There will also be attractions for kids!

Delicious pączki! - Sample our chef’s homemade Polish doughnuts (“pączki”) and try some Polish fudge candies.

Poles are known for their exceptional hospitality, and our Embassy staff can't wait to host you!
