Albania
Diplomatic relations between Poland and Republic of Albania were established in 1937.
Political cooperation
Polish-Albanian bilateral relations have a relatively long history. Even before the Second World War, Poland had a diplomatic representative in Albania. Władysław Gűnther-Schwarzburg, who in 1937 was accredited for the area of Albania. In 1938, he took part in the wedding of the Albanian King Zogu I and the Hungarian princess Geraldine Apponyi. In 1945, Poland resumed diplomatic relations with Albania, and in 1954 diplomatic missions were raised to the rank of embassies (this is the highest rank of diplomatic representation).
Since 1990, mutual relations are very good, there are no contentious issues. High-level visits and political consultations are regularly held. Poland supported Albania's admission to NATO and supports Albania's aspiration to join the EU

Cooperation in the field of science
The beginnings of traveling to Poland for studies date back to the 1950s. After the political transformation in our countries, the ministries of science signed an agreement under which the Polish government offers Albanians free of charge studies at Polish universities. Every year tens of students undertake studies in Poland. Currently, there are over 100 students from Albania in various fields, including economics, computer science, medicine, applied technical studies as well as social studies (social work) and arts. Albanian graduates of Polish universities return to Albania and use their knowledge for the best of their country, taking up jobs as high-class experts in their fields, in banking sector, healthcare, public administration, various areas of industry and the economy of Albania.
In Poland, the interest of young people in Balkan studies is constant. More and more people learn the Albanian language. The development of interest in Albanian issues and the Balkan region is supported by the activities of various research centers, especially universities which offer Balkan studies, such as Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. The number of publications related to Albanian and regional issues are being published. More and more students and researchers visit Albania within the framework of language and academic internships.
