“Poland – the Literary Superpower: Five Nobels and Counting” - presentation of Polish literature translated into Albanian at the Center for Openness and Dialogue in Tirana

At the invitation of the Centre for Openness and Dialogue, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tirana organised an event promoting Polish literature translated and published in Albania.

On March 11, as part of the “Diplomacy and Culture” presentation series, Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Poland, Wojciech Unolt, accompanied by three translators and a publisher of works by Polish writers and poets, led a panel on the presence of Polish literature in Albanian culture.

Translators Astrit Beqiraj and Edlira Lloha spoke about the history of translations of Polish authors and their reception in Albania, their own experiences with Polish literature and their favorite works; publisher Gentian Çoçoli about the connections between Polish and Albanian poetry; and Polish translator Dorota Horodyska about Polish translations of Albanian literature.

The presentation gathered Albanian publishers, representatives of cultural institutions, students and lecturers of philological faculties of universities in Tirana.
