17.01.2024
On 11 January 2023 the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Tirana, M. Zuchniak-Pazdan, in the presence of the Mayor of the capital city of Tirana, E. Veliaj, officially opened the renovated sports infrastructure in one of the secondary schools in Tirana.
Project entitled "Revitalization of the gym at the “Ismail Qemali” secondary school in Tirana” was implemented in 2023, when Tirana held the title of European Capital of Sports. This title - established in 1999 thanks to the European Association of Sports Capitals (ACES) and the European Commission - is awarded to the city for the development of sport, health promotion and the development of sports life among the city's inhabitants. Thanks to funds from the "Polish Aid" development aid program, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tirana has joined a number of events, activities and sports tournaments organized by the Municipality of Tirana. As part of the project and the allocated funds, necessary renovation work was carried out on the school's sports infrastructure, including: replacing the parquet floor and covering it with a special laminate, refreshing the school gym as well as installing ladders.
The event was reported in major news editions on Albanian television as well as in printed and electronic newspapers.
