Two Polish movies received main awards at the "Tirana European Youth Film Festival".
From 5th to 10th of September 2024 , the 2nd edition of the "Tirana European Youth Film Festival" took place in Tirana, during which the embassy organized screenings of two Polish movies: "Horror Story" with participation of the director Adrian Apanel and "Next to Nothing" directed by Grzegorz Dębowski.
This year's festival included screenings of nine movies from Poland, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Serbia, Albania and Kosovo competing with each other.
Both completely different Polish movies caught the attention of a large audience and were awarded main prizes. The movie entitled "Next to Nothing" by Grzegorz Dębowski was awarded in two categories: in "the best movie" category and in "the best director" category for its intricate portrayal of the world of peasants, brought to life through outstanding performances by the entire cast. "Next to Nothing" is a gripping social drama set in the realities of a contemporary Polish village.
The movie "Horror Story" by Adrian Apanel was awarded with "the audience prize". "Horror Story" is a subversive comedy about entering adulthood, full of eccentric characters who introduce a chaotic mix of horror and comedy into the life of the main character, destroying his previous world.
Mr. Tomasz Frączkiewicz, Chargé d`affaires a.i. of the embassy, inaugurated the event with his short speech and also received awards on behalf of Grzegorz Dębowski during the closing ceremony of the festival. The ceremony was attended by, among others, representatives of the diplomatic corps and the authorities of the municipality of Tirana.
