Switzerland - visa representation (C-type and A-type visas)
Switzerland - visa representation (C-type and A-type visas)
Pursuant to the intergovernmental agreement on visa representation between Poland and Switzerland, RP Consul in Yerevan represents the Swiss Confederation in the territory of the Republic of Armenia in the scope of processing visa applications and issuing C-type (uniform Schengen visa) and A-type (airport transit visa), with the exceptions of:
- visas issued for the purpose of employment, study or other activities to be carried out in Switzerland and for which prior authorization of the Swiss authorities is required;
- visas with limited territorial validity (LTV), except the visas issued due to the fact that other Member States do not recognize the travel document of the applicant, while both Poland and Switzerland recognize it;
- visas issued for medical treatment;
- visa applications submitted by the citizens of Eritrea, Iraq and Somalia;
- visa applications submitted by the holders of a diplomatic, service or special passport, who are not citizens of Armenia;
- visa applications submitted by the holders of an ordinary passport, who are not citizens of Armenia, intending to visit Switzerland for an official purpose, including the attendance of international conferences;
- For the cases mentioned above the competent institution is the Swiss Embassy in Tbilisi.
As a rule, the procedures for submitting and processing visa applications for C-type and A-type visas for Switzerland are the same, as the application procedures for C-type and A-type visas to Poland, with the following exceptions;
- in the case of applicants traveling to Switzerland to visit a family or friends, who, in their turn, ensure conditions for the applicants (providing accommodation or covering the costs of stay), during the submission of the visa application verification of the declaration of sponsorship will be carried out by competent Swiss cantonal authorities.
This document (declaration of sponsorship) is issued to the applicant during the visa process, who is obliged to forward it immediately to the inviting person in Switzerland in order to confirm the compliance with the conditions set out in the declaration by the competent Swiss cantonal authorities. The result of this verification is then forwarded to the Section of Consular Affairs and Polonia of the Polish Embassy in Yerevan. For this reason, the processing of visa applications may take longer than the average processing time for other types of visa applications.
