03.03.2022

Last days we have been receiving many questions from the Poles in Belgium and from their Belgian friends regarding the support for the people in distress following the Russian aggression in Ukraine. It is an important message of solidarity, unity and generosity in these unprecedented times of the war in Europe.

We keep receiving messages about the readiness of the Polish diaspora in Belgium and our Belgian friends to support people affected by the war in Ukraine. It is a necessary expression of solidarity in this unprecedented situation of war in Europe.

Individuals, companies, non-governmental organizations and institutions from outside Poland interested in providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine, may:

  • transfer humanitarian aid to one of the Polish organizations (if you does not have Ukrainian partner). In such a situation, you should submit your application using the form available on the website available also in English;
  • transfer humanitarian aid directly to Ukraine (if you have Ukrainian partner). Information on the simplified procedure for crossing the Polish-Ukrainian border for heavy goods transport with humanitarian aid is available on the website:.

At the same time, we would like to inform that individuals, companies and non-governmental organizations interested in providing financial aid to Ukraine may make payments to the following accounts:

  • National Bank of Ukraine:
  • The Governmental Agency for Strategic Reserves in Poland – it coordinates the transfer of aid both to Ukraine and to refugees in Poland through the purchase of material aid, its storage and organization of transports. Detailed information.

Additionally, we would like to inform that in Belgium donations for Ukraine are collected by the Embassy of Ukraine in Brussels. It collects, among others, protection, as well as humanitarian and medical aid. The Embassy of Ukraine in Brussels kindly asks everyone to provide all the donations to: BRUSSELS EXPO (Hall 11, gate D1) from 8 AM till 8 PM every day. Detailed information on Facebook.

We also inform that the Belgian federal government has launched a special website Info-Ukraine with useful information concerning, among others, the rules of stay of Ukrainian refugees in Belgium, as well as the ways of helping them. The website is available in six languages: Flemish, French, German, English, Ukrainian and Russian. People who came to Belgium from Ukraine can find on the website information on procedures related to the legalization of stay and on the possibility of obtaining help, including medical and psychological. On the other hand, people who want to support refugees from Ukraine can obtain tips on how to offer them accommodation or provide them humanitarian and financial assistance.

In addition, in Brussels, humanitarian aid for Ukraine and refugees from that country is collected by the Help Centre Belgium. Detailed information on action is available on the website Help Centre Belgium. Organization address: Rue de Haerne 39, 1040 Bruxelles (Etterbeek). Telephone: +32 (0) 2 315 42 00. There is also a possibility to cooperate with other non-governmental organizations and initiatives in Blegium, acting for Ukraine and refugees from this country. These are, among others, Ukrainians of Belgium, Association of Ukrainian Women of Belgium, Croix-Rouge de Belgique.

We are grateful to all Poles in Belgium  - acting through organizations, or individually – for your engagement. Any activity to help the Ukrainian refugees is important to mitigate the effects of this war.
