Polish Day 2023
On the 7th of May this year, in one of the most popular places in Brussels - the Cinquantenaire Park - witnessed the second edition of the Polish Day in Brussels - a family picnic, attended by an estimated 10,000 to 20,000 people - Poles in Belgium, Belgians and foreigners living in Belgium, as well as tourists. The Brussels celebrations of Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad Day, National Flag Day and Third of May Constitution Day were held as part of Polish Heritage Days.
Up to 23 Polish diaspora organisations and schools showcased some of their activities. Stands promoting Poland had also been set up by 14 voivodeships. With the ongoing Year of Copernicus, many attractions were associated with the Polish astronomer. On the main stage, the Cracovia Danza ballet performed two spectacles, with the finale being a polonaise danced with an audience of hundreds. A performance by the band "Kwiat Jabłoni" brought the Polish Day to an end in the evening
The event was organised by the Polish Embassy in Brussels and the Polish diaspora organisations Help Centre Belgium - responsible for logistics, and Polska Macierz Szkolna - responsible for the presentation of schools. Co-organisers were the Polish Institute in Brussels, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to NATO and the Brussels Office of the Polish Tourism Organisation.
