Mrs. Izabela Fabjańska-Potapczuk
A professional diplomat and a Foreign Service officer. Served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1994, initially with the Department of America, then with the consular service. Before her current position in Montreal, she held the position of Consul and Deputy Head of Mission at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Toronto for seven years. From 1998 to 2001, Deputy Head of Mission in Buenos Aires, followed by a role of Deputy Head of Mission in Caracas. After returning from the mission, worked in the Department of America, then in the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2017 to 2024, she served as Consul and Deputy Head of Mission at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Toronto. In 2019, during the International Youth Day, she was entrusted with a mission supporting the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Panama. In 2023 and 2024, she was temporarily assigned to provide support to the Polish Embassy in Peru.
A graduate of the Diplomatic Academy of the Kingdom of Spain, a translator and Spanish teacher, she published two Spanish language textbooks, in 2010-2012. A translation that she co-authored of “The Shadow of the Wind” by Carlos Luiz Zafón, has been a bestseller in Poland since 2005.
Since October 1, 2024, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Montreal.
Married, mother of a twenty-year-old daughter.
