Celebration of the National Day of Poland in Nicosia

A concert to celebrate the 232nd anniversary of the May 3rd Constitution was held on 11th May in Nicosia.

Upon invitation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Mrs Irena Lichnerowicz-Augustyn and the Honorary Consul General Mr Leandros Papaphilippou the concert was attended by representatives of Cypriot authorities, economic, scientific and cultural circles, clergy, the Polish community in Cyprus and the diplomatic corps. The Government of the Republic of Cyprus was represented by H.E. Mr Alexis Vafeades, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works.

After the official part, invited guests listened to masterpieces by Henryk Wieniawski, Grażyna Bacewicz, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Fryderyk Chopin and Emil Młynarski performed by Polish musicians – a violinist Agata Szymczewska and a pianist Wojciech Szymczewski.
