Inauguration of the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group

On 1st July the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group was inaugurated in Nicosia.
At the invitation of Ambassador Irena Lichnerowicz-Augustyn the launching event was attended by the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus Mr Demetris Syllouris, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Nikos Christodoulides, MFA Permanent Secretary Mr Kornelios Korneliou, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Office of the President of the Republic of Cyprus Mrs Philippa Karsera and heads of diplomatic missions of EU Member States accredited to Nicosia.
In her speech, the Polish Ambassador presented the program of the presidency whose motto is “Back on track”. She also reminded that next year Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Visegrad cooperation.
The Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group will last from 1st July 2020 to 30th June 2021. Poland has taken over the presidency from the Czech Republic.
