Development of sea connections between Polish and Danish ports - pilot cruise
22.09.2020
The development of local sea ports in Poland and Denmark and new sea connections in the South Baltic area was discussed by the representatives of the Gdynia Maritime University, the Vordingborg port, the Mukran port in Germany and the Polish Embassy in Copenhagen.
The discussion took place on the occasion of the inauguration of the pilot cruise on the route Vordingborg - Stepnica - Kołobrzeg. The aim of the cruise was to demonstrate the advantages of sea transport, as well as to draw attention to the need for the development of local ports and the potential of new shipping connections in the Baltic Sea. Chargé d'affaires a.i. Mateusz Mońko emphasized that the development of smaller sea ports and short sea shipping is one of the priorities of the Polish maritime policy. He drew attention to the beneficial impact of sea transport on the natural environment, lower emissions, as well as the lack of an alternative to sea transport for many types of cargo and many trade directions. As an example of Polish-Danish cooperation in this area, he mentioned the construction of the port in Gdynia and its reconstruction after the Second World War.
