Ewa Dębska
Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Denmark
Ewa Dębska graduated with a master's degree in Danish Philology from the Department of Scandinavian Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, in 1991. She also completed postgraduate studies on Europe and European integration at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Adam Mickiewicz University (1997/98).
Between 1991 and 1999 she worked as Danish-Polish translator and interpreter. During this period she cooperated, among others, with the Royal Danish Embassy in Warsaw.
In 1995-1996 assistant at the Department for Scandinavian Studies (Danish Philology) at Gdańsk University, and Danish language teacher at the Danish Cultural Institute in Gdańsk.
Since 1999 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
From 1999 to 2003 at the Embassy of Poland in Denmark, as Second and then First Secretary in the Political Section, where she dealt with European portfolio, including cooperation with Denmark on finalizing Poland's EU accession negotiations.
From 2004 to 2006 in the European Union Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responsible for European policy issues, relations with the Nordic and Baltic countries and multilateral cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region. From 2006 to 2007 in the Information System Department.
Since 2005 career diplomat within the Foreign Service, since 2006 – member of the Civil Service.
From 2008 to 2013 Ewa Dębska was posted at the Embassy of Poland in Stockholm as Deputy Head of Mission and head of the Political and Economic Section. In 2013 she took up the position of Deputy Director in the European Policy Department responsible for cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic countries and the Visegrad Group.
From March 2015 till December 2017 she served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Latvia.
Back in the MFA she worked in the Development Cooperation Department and, since 2018, again in the European Policy Department. She was the National Coordinator of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region and the representative of Poland in the Committee of Senior Officials of the Council of Baltic Sea States. From December 2023 to August 2024 - Deputy Director for relations with countries in Northern and the Mediterranean Europe.
As of 4 October 2024, she holds the position of chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Denmark. She acts as Head of Mission/Minister Plenipotentiary at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Copenhagen.
Ewa Dębska is awarded with Poland's Golden Cross of Merit (2014) and Estonia's Order of the Cross of Terra Mariana of the Third Class (2014).
She speaks Danish, English and German.
