23.02.2023
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in Copenhagen on 23 February. During the talks, bilateral topics were discussed, as well as issues related to European security and support for Ukraine.
- I am very grateful to the Prime Minister for her declarations, words and deeds in the area of support for Ukraine, stabilization of the international situation, as well as her decision to transfer CAESAR howitzers to Ukraine," Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed, thanking Denmark for its commitment.Poland has clearly sided with Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian aggression on 24 February 2022. Our huge contribution to humanitarian and military aid puts us at the forefront of countries that continuously offer their support.
We are also among the first to donate Leopard 2 tanks and train Ukrainian soldiers. Poland also stresses the importance of helping Ukraine internationally and supports Ukraine's path to the European Union and NATO.
Poland and Denmark are strategic partners - particularly in energy cooperation. In September 2022, we launched the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline. This investment, created by Poland in cooperation with Denmark and Norway, is today our key to energy independence from Russia. The Baltic Pipe pipeline provides us with a secure gas supply for Poland and our neighboring countries. We are looking for further opportunities to develop cooperation in this area between our countries.
- We are at such a special historical moment, so we touch on many other important topics - migration, renewable energy sources. Here we also agree on so many issues," added the head of the Polish government.
