Screenings of films about Greenland and Faroe Islands

Documentary films by Kuba Witek depicting Polish-Greenlandic and Faroese-Polish relations were presented on 10 and 11 May in Copenhagen.

On the occasion of 85th anniversary of the first Polish scientific expedition led by prof. A. Kosiba to Greenland a premiere of the documentary film "Ordinary life" took place in the Greenlandic Cultural Centre in Copenhagen.

The premiere was accompanied by the speeches of the Head of Greenlandic Delegation in Denmark, Jens Heinrich and the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Antoni Fałkowski.

The participants had also the opportunity to learn interesting facts about Greenland and Poland from Adam Jarniewski, the main character of the film "Ordinary Life", author of books and blog "Discover Greenland" and Kuba Witek, director and creator of the film.

In addition, the audience watched a presentation about the first Polish expedition to Greenland accompanied by a concert of electronic music by Łukasz "Szatt" Palkiewicz.

On the next day, a documentary "Together in Isolation" about the Faroese community's struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic was presented in the Faroese Cultural Center. The screening was accompanied by a discussion with the director, Kuba Witek, who introduced the audience to history of the Polish community in the Faroe Islands and shared his experiences from working on documentaries about the Faroe Islands. The screening was accompanied by a concert by Ł. Palkiewicz, author of the soundtrack to Kuba Witek's films.

The screenings were realized as part of the Polish Heritage Days in Denmark.
