On 15 March 2020 Poland reintroduced temporary border controls on all internal borders with the aim to slow down spread of coronavirus. Those measures must however not affect the free movement of goods on the EU’s single market.  Polish border guard have since the introduction of the restrictive measures worked hard to shorten the queues, particularly for EU trucks carrying food and live animals. Currently, the average time of checking each truck has been reduced to around 40 seconds and the traffic is smooth on most of the border crossings between Poland and Germany.
