100 M masks from Polish sewing plants
16.04.2020
40 M masks from 200 Polish sewing plants in a month, and until the end of June – up to 100 M. That is the effect of the #PolskieSzwalnie (#PolishSewingPlants) project, implemented by the Industrial Development Agency under the patronage of President Andrzej Duda.
In the middle of March, we were encouraging the entrepreneurs who could provide us with personal protection equipment to engage in contact. Over 800 companies have contacted us atpomagamy@mr.gov.pl. We spoke with almost every one of those companies - reminds the Deputy Prime Minister Jadwiga Emilewicz.
She adds: - Within the EU, we are the country which had not transferred its sewing plants to Asian countries. Today, that constitutes an asset that guarantees our safety.
Over 200 sewing plants have been jointly organised in a manufacturing group led by seven large clothing companies. These are the companies which manufacture in Poland and which employ mainly Polish workers. They use the services of Polish suppliers and engage in coordination, storage and distribution of masks.
The entrepreneurs have responded to the appeal of the Industrial Development Agency and the Ministry of Development - we proposed that we will provide the materials to be used for manufacturing the masks. Considering the current limited possibility of carrying out sales and regular manufacturing, all of them agreed - says the President of the Management Board Cezariusz Lesisz.
“Polish Sewing Plants” Project
The Industrial Development Agency has concluded 7 agreements with entities which integrate the operations of Polish sewing plants which manufacture safety masks. These companies include: 4F, LPP, PTAK, Pako Lorente, EM Poland, Rascal Industry, Modesta. All of these entities operate in Poland and use the services of Polish suppliers in the manufacturing Process.
The Industrial Development Agency manufactures safety masks through the companies which integrate the manufacturing process. Those entities are responsible for logistics, storage, material deliveries, and receiving the material from the local Polish sewing plants. In total, approximately 200 sewing plants are involved in the Project. The manufacturing process has already started. The sewing plants manufacture masks using the material purchased by the Industrial Development Agency from the Polish company Texton located in Zgierz.
The manufacturing process carried out using that model is primarily intended to provide jobs in small sewing plants. They are not going to manufacture in large quantities due to the manual, craftsman nature of the production process - nonetheless, it is crucial to maintain manufacturing in the local sewing plants. The production volumes may reach up to several million masks each week.
New production lines owned by the Industrial Development Agency
The Industrial Development Agency will soon open a manufacturing plant in its own hall situated in Stalowa Wola. Eight production lines will be established in the facility. The target production volume amounts to 29 M masks per month (N95 and 3Ply masks).
The new production lines owned by the Industrial Development Agency will help to rebuild the manufacturing potential of manufacturing personal protective equipment in Poland.
Manufacturing ordered by the Industrial Development Agency
Moreover, the following companies commenced manufacturing mask per the Industrial Development’s Agency order: Nife (manufacturing 7 M masks until the end of June), TW PLAST (manufacturing 50 M masks until the end of June), Andrema Tex (manufacturing approximately 7.5 M masks until the end of June), Protektor (manufacturing 2.25 M masks in June), Texton, Ruscal, EM Poland, TZMO, Teofilów, Arlen. The masks are purchased and distributed by the Industrial Development Agency as a complement to the other two manufacturing paths.
The masks manufactured in Poland are intended for the marketplace. The goods supplied by the Industrial Development Agency shall be available at a preferential price. They will be distributed, among others, at petrol stations.
