Deputy Minister Robert Tomanek participated in the Polish-Ukrainian Business Days The impact of the pandemic on Polish-Ukrainian economic relations and the prospects for development of cooperation between our countries were the key issues discussed during the 13th International Forum “Polish-Ukrainian Business Days,” which was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Technology, Professor Robert Tomanek, PhD.

The panel discussion concerned, among others, Polish-Ukrainian trade and investment cooperation, labour migration and trade barriers. Significant time was also devoted to the economic changes brought by the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges consequently faced by the economies.

The pandemic has had a major impact on the economies of all countries. However, we are optimistic, which is also confirmed by the forecasts of international financial institutions with respect to economic growth in 2021.

– Deputy Minister Robert Tomanek emphasised and also pointed out that the crisis has caused significant disruptions in supplies from remote areas.

In the future, companies are going to seek for suppliers which are relatively close geographically, and who also operate in a similar cultural circle. Therefore, the importance of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation is going to continue to grow.

During his speech, Deputy Minister Robert Tomanek emphasised the role of Ukrainian citizens, who are the most frequently employed foreigners in Poland. He also pointed towards the ongoing work carried out by the MEDLT on a new industrial policy and a new export policy.

Economic cooperation between Poland and Ukraine was also the subject of a visit to the Ukrainian capital by Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin at the end of April 2021. At the time, he met with Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko.

The Forum is organised by the Ukrainian Business Association in Poland under the patronage of the Embassy of Ukraine in Warsaw. The Ministry of Economic Development, Labour and Technology has also given its patronage to the current edition of the event.
