Despite the pandemic, we have seen a slight increase in trade with Bulgaria. There is still an untapped potential that seems wider than just commercial economic cooperation between our countries

- said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Technology Jarosław Gowin.

As part of the Polish presidency of the Visegrad Group, in June this year we are planning to organise an on-line conference with the economic ministers responsible for sustainable development in the extended V4+ format (with Bulgaria and Romania), that would include also experts and business representatives. The main theme will be: “Decade of actions – Sustainable reconstruction - key challenges for achieving the 2030 Agenda and the sustainable development goals”. During the Forum we would like to discuss:

  • the priorities for sustainable development,
  • how to combine the response to the Covid-19 challenges with the sustainable development goals (SDGs),
  • how the National Reconstruction Programme addresses the challenges of sustainable development,
  • how do countries see the role of sustainable financing in the reconstruction process.

We highly appreciate the joint chairmanship of the Berlin Process held by Bulgaria and North Macedonia in 2020. We consider it a success that the countries of the Western Balkans have approved two declarations: Supporting the plans for the establishment of the Common Regional Market and the objectives of New Green Deal for the Western Balkans. In the framework of the Berlin Process, we support our partners on their path to the EU and we are ready to share the experiences of economic transformation and the establishment of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).

In particular, in our relations we attach great importance to the regional cooperation, including within the Three Seas Initiative.

In this context, I would like to thank the Bulgarian side for its readiness to hold the Three Seas Initiative Summit in Sofia (at the turn of June and July this year). The vision presented by the Bulgarian side is truly ambitious. This is a good forecast for the future

- said Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin.

Also today, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Technology, Andrzej Gut-Mostowy, participated in opening the tourist delegation of Bulgaria covering the Visegrad Group countries, which will have its seat in Warsaw.

This is an extremely important event. We believe that the activities of the delegation will help to stimulate tourism between our countries

- emphasized deputy head of the ministry.
