28.03.2022
Visits to the national pavilions of Egypt, Nigeria and Ukraine, a meeting with students in the Polish Pavilion and a briefing with journalists at the Expo in Dubai - these are the highlights of the first day of Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Technology Grzegorz Piechowiak's stay in the United Arab Emirates.
The World Expo 2020 in Dubai is coming to an end. On one of its last days, Deputy Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak spoke with representatives of Ukraine, which is fighting against the Russian aggressor, in their national pavilion:
We support a broad package of economic and humanitarian support for Ukraine. We enable Ukrainian entrepreneurs to set up and conduct business in Poland. We also take action on the international stage to maintain global solidarity with Ukraine and support for the Ukrainian people and their government,
- said the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Technology Grzegorz Piechowiak.
The Deputy Minister also visited the pavilions of Egypt and Nigeria. He also met with the team of the Polish Pavilion and with students who, as volunteers, help to operate the entire exposition.
The internship at Expo is a chance for young people to gain unique experience, competences and knowledge. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet interesting people, make friends and collect unforgettable memories for life.
- Grzegorz Piechowiak admitted.
A total of 134 students from five universities were engaged to staff the Polish Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai: Warsaw University, University of Lodz, Cracow University of Economics, Białystok University and Vistula University Group.
Economic Forum at the end of the Expo
The Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Grzegorz Piechowiak, also took part in a briefing organised in the Polish Pavilion, with the participation of Polish and foreign media. He also invited, among others, to participate in the Polish-African Economic Forum, which will be held on 28 March in Dubai, and made the first preliminary summary of Poland's presence - in economic and socio-cultural terms - at the World Expo 2020.
Africa is today one of the most promising markets in the world with great economic and demographic potential. This is also confirmed by the scale of interest in the Polish-African Economic Forum. About 400 entrepreneurs and representatives of public institutions from Poland and 21 African countries have announced their participation.
- Grzegorz Piechowiak emphasised.
It is estimated that Expo 2020 in Dubai, which ends on March 31, 2022, has so far attracted around 18 million visitors from around the world.
Our main objective during the nearly six months of the Expo 2020 World Exhibition in Dubai was to promote Poland as a reliable trade partner and a safe place to invest. That is why the Polish Pavilion hosted around a thousand events of various kinds. They were attended by about 2.5 thousand enterprises from various industries, while the Pavilion itself was visited by over a million people from all over the world. It is our unquestionable success.
- said Deputy Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak.
