Polish-Korean economic cooperation and Korean investments in Poland - these are the main topics of today's meeting of the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Grzegorz Piechowiak, with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Poland, Mira Sun.

Deputy Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak sits at the table and looks at the South Korean ambassador in Poland. The conversation concerns economic cooperation of both countries.

South Korea is one of our most important economic partners in Asia and the second largest trading partner in the region. Since the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Korea was signed in 2011, our trade has been growing steadily. In 2020 - despite the pandemic - it reached a record level of 7 billion dollars - said Deputy Minister for Development and Technology Grzegorz Piechowiak.

I welcome with satisfaction the very intensive economic dialogue between Poland and the Republic of Korea in recent years. I am very pleased with the presence and activity of Korean companies in our country. Also because they have been investing in greenfield projects for years, at the same time implementing modern technologies and their own know-how - emphasized the Deputy Head of the Ministry, who is also the government's plenipotentiary for foreign investments in Poland.

Korean investments in Poland

According to NBP data, the Republic of Korea was the largest Asian investor in Poland in 2019-2020. Preliminary data for the first 8 months of 2021 show a 31% increase in trade exchange between the two countries, including Polish exports to the Korean market by as much as 42%. However, among the largest Korean investors in Poland the following should be mentioned first of all: LG Chem and SK hi-tech battery materials Poland.
