The two-day Welconomy Forum started with an inaugural panel discussion under the meaningful title “Pandemic and what next?”.

– Over the last few months, Polish companies, and thus the Polish economy, could count on support in the form of a tourist voucher or other solutions from the anti-crisis shield. Our entrepreneurs have already received over 136 billion Polish zlotys – emphasised Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Olga Semeniuk.

Deputy minister Semeniuk has also took part in the Baltic Local Government Forum. During the meeting and debate with local government officials who came to Toruń from various regions of Poland, she talked about the possibilities and rules of using the Government Local Investment Fund. Polish government has allocated for that goal approx. 12 billion zlotys

– Until September 30 this year, local governments may submit applications within the Fund. This is our way to support our Small Homelands, said Deputy Minister Semeniuk.

On the second day of the Forum, the deputy minister of economic development participated in the online panel discussion “Support instruments for Polish entrepreneurs in the Covid-19 era”.

– Over the past six months, i.e. in the period of the coronavirus pandemic, we have conducted consultations with representatives of over 40 industries. We have introduced solutions that have made it possible to maintain financial liquidity of companies and protect jobs. We are currently preparing subsequent measures to strengthen our economy in the future. They provide support for the SME sector– including craftsmanship – as well as strategic investor passport, tax exemption for robotization or a housing package, emphasised Minister Semeniuk.

Welconomy Forum is a meeting place for representatives of the world of politics, business, science and local government representatives. It has been held cyclically since 1994 – first in Międzyzdroje, then in Ciechocinek, and since 2008 in Toruń.
