The support granted under the anti-crisis shields involves, among others:

  • PLN 21.83 billion - exemptions from social insurance contributions between March and May of 2020, deferrals/dividing the contributions into instalments, idle time benefits;
  • PLN 24.14 billion - subsidies for job protection from the Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund, subsidies for employee remunerations for MSMEs from the European Social Fund, micro-loans for entrepreneurs;
  • PLN 60.31 billion - grants under the Polish Development Fund Financial Shield;
  • PLN 23.82 billion - credit collaterals from Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego;
  • PLN 53 million - support granted by the Industrial Development Agency.

The data shows that the aid instruments contained in the anti-crisis shield have met with a strong interest from businesses.

The shield focuses on ensuring safety of employees and maintaining liquidity and continuity of enterprises. We have included solutions, which we assessed as the most crucial for maintaining the potential of the Polish economy at this stage of counteracting the economic consequences of the pandemic.

Co-financing idle job positions or those with reduced working time allows the company to reduce between 60% up to 75% of labour costs, which is more cost-effective than bearing the costs of dismissing employees and the costs of future recruitment and trainings.

We remain in constant contact with representatives of various industries, employers’ organisations, select companies. The submitted proposals for additions and modifications are analysed and consulted. The government is flexibly reacting to the dynamically changing situation on an ongoing basis.
