The Ministry of Development and Technology, recognising the impact of innovation on the development of the Polish industry, has initiated a number of measures to foster the development of the wood industry based on modern, advanced techniques and technologies.
Building a strong and modern economy is impossible without the active role of the state, which must create solid foundations for a modern structure of the economy. It manifests itself in creating conditions for sustainable, socially non-exclusive and, most importantly, sustained economic growth,
- said Deputy Minister for Development and Technology Andrzej Gut-Mostowy at the meeting with the Slovenian delegation.
The key areas for transformation towards the economy of the future - human capital, natural resources, investments, including in environmental protection, knowledge and data must be used complementarily, synergistically. Only this will guarantee productivity growth based on the use of knowledge and new technologies, especially digital, innovation and enable adaptation to global macrotrends.
Basing the production on a natural and renewable raw material, the possibility of recovery and utilisation of wood waste, its environmentally friendly nature - these are the features that constitute the ecological character of wood industry products, which increases its importance in the context of the implementation of sustainable development strategies
- continued the Deputy Minister.
The Polish wood industry plays an important role in the development of the whole economy. Against the background of the global economy, the competitive position of the Polish wood-based sectors is strong due to its forest and wood resources, as well as its importance in the world production of products made from wood processing
The furniture industry in our country is based primarily on small and medium-sized enterprises,
- said Jože Lenart, representative of the Slovenian Parliament.
Europe is also facing the challenge of climate neutrality, as without action on the part of businesses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible and increase energy efficiency, they will face rising costs. This raises the need to diversify the location of production - including locating production in places where supply chains can be shortened in real terms.
