Polish Pavilion at Expo 2020 in Dubai already open

Today marks the beginning of the World Expo 2020 in Dubai. The key objective of Poland's presence is to promote its economy and domestic business, but there will also be a presentation of tourist attractions and elements of culture and art. During the 6 months there will be nearly 1,000 events organised by Poland, and nearly 2,500 Polish companies will benefit from the economic programme. Postponed by a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Expo 2020 Dubai is organised for the first time in an Arab country. Polish Investment and Trade Agency is responsible for the coordination of Polish participation in the Expo.
- During 182 days of Expo 2020 the exhibition will be visited by 18 million people who will pay 25 million visits: from state delegations at the highest level, through business representatives, to tourists and Dubai inhabitants. The most prestigious event in the world will be attended by 200 countries and organisations - Poland among them.
- The motto of the World Exhibition is "Connecting minds, Creating the future". The organisers place particular emphasis on cooperation as a recipe for a global crisis caused by a pandemic.
- The arena of the Polish presentation will be the Polish Pavilion with an area of over 2000 m2 with a wooden facade and a kinetic sculpture symbolising a flock of birds. A spectacular element of the exhibition will be the artistic multimedia installation "Polish Table", consisting of 120 modules made of Polish wood and special modules made by leading artists, architects and engineers.
- Poland will present creativity as a national trait that is the source of our economic, scientific, cultural and social success. The narrative of the Poland Pavilion consists of five chapters linked by the slogan "Poland. Creativity inspired by nature”.
- Over the next six months Poland will organise nearly 1000 events of various kinds. The most important of them are the Polish Day, the Polish-Arabic Economic Forum and the Polish-African Economic Forum.
- PAIH has prepared a rich economic programme consisting of over a dozen different initiatives. It will be attended by a total of nearly 2,500 Polish companies.
The opening ceremony of the Polish Pavilion began on October 1 at 12:30 local time (10:30 Polish time). A programme of temporary exhibitions was also inaugurated. The first of these will be an exhibition prepared by the Marshal's Office of the Podlaskie Region and the Ministry of Climate and Environment: „Xylopolis. A city powered by nature". The exhibition will include the premiere of a monumental painting by Leon Tarasewicz of almost 46 m2 .
World Exhibitions have always been a place that brings together cultures from all over the world, including business cultures. They have been and still are a forum for presenting economic and scientific achievements, finding solutions to global problems. This time the COVID-19 pandemic has presented Poland and the world with completely new challenges. It is these challenges that the whole economic world will be focusing on in Dubai over the next 6 months. Expo 2020 in Dubai is also exceptional in another respect - it is the first time that it is being held in the Middle East region. I am glad that we have the opportunity to present Poland in this part of the world - to show our economic potential, including the Polish regions, as well as the diverse Polish culture and values. These are key elements for the further, stable development of our economy and the whole country.

Poland Pavilion - the arena for presenting the new story of Poland
Today, a new story about Poland on the international arena begins in a spectacular way. In the Poland Pavilion, which is an architectural work of art that showcases the power of Polish design and the creativity of Poles, visitors will be able to learn about Poland's economic successes, our culture and technology, extraordinary nature, and above all, our creativity and entrepreneurship. This is the culmination of four years of preparation and hard work of several hundred people - wonderful teams of project coordinators, creators, architects, engineers, artists and numerous institutional and commercial partners with whom we have had the opportunity to cooperate," says Adrian Malinowski, Commissioner of the European Union.

The Polish Pavilion will be the venue for a multi-dimensional presentation of Poland. Its motto will be "Poland. Creativity inspired by nature – Polska Kreatywność inspirowana naturą”. The WXCA studio and Bellprat Partner studio are responsible for the design and architectural-thematic concept of the pavilion and the exhibition. Together they created a unique, immersive, permeating space, inviting visitors to experience Polish nature, culture and innovative technological solutions.
The pavilion aims to inspire and share with the world many solutions for a conscious, sustainable future. The consortium of Science Now, Stellar Fireworks and Tellart, which is also the originator of the "Polish Table" and zone V "Poland. Landscapes of creativity”. The general contractor of the Poland Pavilion is the Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie - FM Aldentro consortium.
In the Pavilion we will present the potential of our economy and its greatest achievements. As part of the multimedia exhibition in the Poland Pavilion, in the zone Poland. Spirit of ingenuity, the multimedia exhibition in the Polish Pavilion will showcase nearly 200 entities representing sectors with the greatest potential for export to Middle Eastern markets.
This presentation is based on concrete examples of success in the area of economy, science or culture. As the host of the Poland Pavilion, I am extremely proud of this. The Poland Pavilion will be fully accessible to companies. On the second floor there is a business centre with a conference room and a VIP lounge. We will start our visit to the Polish Pavilion at the "Polish Table", where guests will be greeted by our fantastic staff - students from Polish universities, whom I already sincerely thank for their enthusiasm, joy and diversity, which will complement our presentation at the World Expo. The Polish Pavilion will be the venue for the most important events already from the opening ceremony. The Podlaskie Province, together with the Ministry of Climate and Environment, will launch a programme of regional temporary exhibitions. An important element of the exhibition "Xylopolis. A city powered by nature" will be a monumental painting by Professor Leon Tarasewicz, who is one of the most important contemporary Polish painters. With a surface area of almost 46 m2, it is the largest canvas in the oeuvre of this artist from Podlasie. In his work the author refers to local landscapes and the motto of the Polish Pavilion at Expo 2020. The painting will be on display in Zone IV of the Polish Pavilion between 1 and 24 October 2021.
The highlights of our presentation at Expo 2020 in Dubai will be:

- Polish-Arabic Economic Forum (6.12.2021),
- Polish-African Economic Forum (23.02.2022).
During the next six months, the Poland Pavilion will also present acting, folklore and acrobatic performances, workshops for children and fashion shows. The programme of cultural and educational events will also include daily Chopin concerts, educational workshops in programming, folk dance or ceramics painting.
EXPO 2020 - the world in one place
Expo 2020 is the world's most important economic event comparable in scale to the Olympic Games, the Football World Cup or the largest cultural festivals. Poland, wishing to take advantage of this scale, will promote the economic advantages of our country and strengthen the power of Polish entrepreneurship on foreign markets. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency - in cooperation with over 40 institutions and ministries - has prepared a special economic programme for entrepreneurs. It consists of more than a dozen support tools addressed to Polish companies that want to develop, taking advantage of Poland's participation in Expo 2020.
PAIH does not stop in its efforts to actively promote Poland. We are glad that after four years of intensive project implementation, we are starting to participate in Expo 2020 in Dubai. We will strengthen our image and promote Poland as a safe direction for investors. The exhibition is an opportunity to attract new investments for our country. This year their number and value will be record-breaking. Over the next six months we will also, above all, show the export potential of our entrepreneurs and companies. We are directing their particular attention towards new markets in the Middle East and Africa. We have prepared a comprehensive economic programme which consists of a dozen or so initiatives prepared for almost 2,500 companies. For six months we will present Polish successes in the economic, scientific, cultural and social spheres. In total there will be almost 1,000 events, including two large economic forums, which have the potential to open a new chapter in trade relations between Poland and the countries of the African continent and the Persian Gulf,
