Polish Pavilion with Silver Award at Expo 2020 in Dubai
31.03.2022
The Polish Pavilion at the World Expo 2020 Dubai has been distinguished for the interior design of medium-sized pavilions. The award was granted by the World Exhibition Office - the intergovernmental organisation responsible for overseeing the organisation of World Exhibitions.
The winners in each category were announced at the BIE Day Awards Ceremony, held on 30 March 2022, which marked the conclusion of the six-month World Exhibition. Awards were given in three categories: architecture and landscape, interior design and interpretation of theme. The winners were selected by an international jury of nine experts. The judges visited each pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai over two sessions, in January and March 2022.
I am very pleased that the Polish Pavilion has gained such high recognition from the jurors from the World Expo Bureau, but also from many people from all over the world. Over the past six months, it was visited by nearly 1.5 million people, and nearly 200 Polish companies presented their often very innovative and technologically advanced products there. I congratulate the designers and creators of the Polish Pavilion, as well as all the winners in other categories.
- said the Deputy Minister of Development and Technology, Grzegorz Piechowiak.
A long tradition of awards at World Exhibitions
The narrative of the Poland Pavilion was built on the guiding slogan of our presence at Expo 2020 in Dubai - "Poland. Creativity inspired by nature". The interior of the pavilion is dominated by natural wood and a white kinetic sculpture resembling flying birds. One of the main attractions is the artistic installation "Polish Table", which is a meeting place for visitors to the pavilion. The installation was created with more than 120 wooden modules and special elements made of copper, aluminium, glass or ceramics, among others.
WXCA studio and Bellprat Partner studio were responsible for the design, architectural and thematic concept of the pavilion and the exhibition. As a result, a unique, interpenetrating space was created, inviting visitors to experience Polish nature, culture and, above all, innovative technological solutions.
The consortium Science Now, Stellar Fireworks and Tellart, which is also the originator of the "Polish Table" and zone V "Poland. Landscapes of creativity', was responsible for the detailed concept of the exposition's narration and the production of all multimedia materials. The general contractor of the Poland Pavilion is the Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie - FM Aldentro consortium.
This is the second such significant award for the Poland Pavilion. Recently it also received The Best Large Pavilion award in the World Expo Awards competition organised by EXHIBITOR Magazine.
The World Expo Awards have a long tradition dating back to 1851, when the first such exhibition was held in London. They are an integral part of the World Expo and play a key role in honouring official participants for their contributions and efforts to advance the Expo theme, sustainability and public education.
