Polish-Ukrainian talks underway

“Only dialogue will make it possible to work out mutually satisfactory solutions to issues of economic cooperation” - this was the motto of a meeting today between Minister for Economic Development and Technology Krzysztof Hetman and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for the Reintegration of the Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk and Ukrainian Ambassador to the Republic of Poland Vasyl Zvarych.

Among other things, the meeting discussed the continuation of cooperation with the Ukrainian side on the issue of the reconstruction of Ukraine. There was also a discussion on the challenges concerning the economic problems of the Polish and Ukrainian sides resulting from Russia's ongoing military aggression against Ukraine. Poland is also ready to exchange experiences and good practices, including necessary adaptations to the EU law. Ukraine stands as an important economic and trade partner of Poland. In 2022, Poland's exports to Ukraine amounted to EUR 9.7 billion and imports to EUR 6.1 billion. Ukraine was our 9th partner in exports and 15th in imports.

It is estimated that some 2,000 small and medium-sized companies with Polish-Ukrainian capital were active on the Ukrainian market before the war. Currently, there are an estimated 600 Polish companies operating in Ukraine. In 2022, the inflow of Ukrainian investments to Poland is estimated at EUR 220.1 million.
