Polonica Progressio Awards presented

20.06.2022

Today at the Ministry we have presented the Polonica Progressio Awards for the first time. Thus we are starting a new tradition on the economic map of Poland. With this award, whose originator was Minister Waldemar Buda, we want to appreciate the efforts of entrepreneurs working for the economic and social development of our country.

Polonica Progressio Awards

The awards ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and representatives of the Management of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, headed by Minister Buda.

I am convinced that in these difficult circumstances in which we have come to live – Polish entrepreneurs operating in the free market and we as the government party, whose task is to help companies develop and expand, will together be able to work out an appropriate modus operandi that will allow us to function in the world after 24 February - in the world of war beyond our eastern border, high inflation and commodity prices and uncertainty

– prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki said.

Presenting awards to entrepreneurs is extremely important. In the multitude of duties and tasks we have to stop once a year and say: today is the day, the Entrepreneurs' Day, in which we all pay special attention to your effort and toil

- pointed out minister Waldemar Buda.

As he informed, we have 2,606,306 active firms in Poland in Central Register and Information on Economic Activity (CEIDG). This is as many as 168 thousand more businesses, comparing the data to the most difficult period for the Polish economy in the last two years, i.e. the beginning of the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic has shown that Polish entrepreneurs are able to survive with state support. We saved several million jobs thanks to, among other things, assistance from the Anti-Crisis Shield and the Financial Shield. Listening to each other, we are able to cope together

– stressed the minister of economic development and technology.

About the award

By establishing the Polonica Progressio Award, we wish to express our appreciation for the work and involvement in building the brand of Poland in the world and strengthening the competitiveness of the Polish economy – the ability of companies to innovate, create added value, care for indigenous values while being open to change and working for sustainable development.

"Polonica" indicates the national character of the award. The second part, "Progressio", is a catch-all for the 6 categories.

The first Polonica Progressio Award gala opens this year's Entrepreneurs' Day

On 21 June this year, together with its partners, the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology is organising a series of meetings, training courses, webinars and videochats. We want to show entrepreneurs how to use the ongoing changes in the economic environment to strengthen the quality of their products, services and technologies.
