The visit of Minister Krzysztof Paszyk to Brussels

EU Competitiveness Council meeting

Poland assumes the Presidency of the Council of the European Union at a highly specific time, full of uncertainties and changes. It is underlain by continuing war in Ukraine, international tensions, erosion of the international order as well as economic challenges, including the climate and technological ones. Therefore, the Polish Presidency will support the measures strengthening the European security in all its aspects: internal, external, informational, economic, energy, food and health

– emphasized Minister Krzysztof Paszyk at the meeting of the EU Competitiveness Council, while presenting the work programme of the Polish Presidency.

The meeting agenda covered among others the European competitiveness. The Polish party stressed that improving the EU competitiveness requires a repair of the EU single market foundations, including ensuring the undisturbed use of the four fundamental freedoms by the European entrepreneurs. The lawmaking in Europe was also discussed. The head of MEDT confirmed Poland’s support for a debate on decreasing the regulatory burden for the enterprises and improving quality of the European law.

In the course of the meeting, the European Commission presented the delegations with the 2024 report of the SME Envoys Network.

Meetings with the future EU Commissioners

Industrial policy will be the one of priorities of our Presidency. We are committed to increase the competitiveness of the European industry, including with the focus on tackling unfair competition posing a threat to the European economies

- pointed out Minister Krzysztof Paszyk during the meeting with Stéphane Séjourné, the future Commissioner for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy. The talks concerned the plans and priorities of the Poland’s Presidency with a view to the works of the Competitiveness Council. Minister Krzysztof Paszyk presented also the expectations of the Polish party regarding the new European Commission in view of the planned activities of the Commission in the area of industrial policy, internal market and decreasing the regulatory burdens.

We wish to highlight a major issue of concern related to the Mercosur agreement. Although we are aware of the potential of this agreement, we also see a great danger for the Polish and European food producers

Determining the relations between the EU and the aspirant countries will be our priority. Poland sustains its support for integration of Ukraine and Moldova. We also see the security-related benefits in our region

– emphasized the head of MEDT in his talk with Maroš Šefčovič, the future Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security and the Commissioner for Interinstitutional Relations and Transparency. The Mercosur agreement, relations between the EU and Ukraine and transatlantic relations were discussed at the meeting.
