The visit of Minister Piotr Nowak to the USA

Today, the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Piotr Nowak, started his three-day visit to the United States. The objective of the talks with the representatives of the American administration, international financial institutions and companies will be to strengthen Polish-American economic cooperation, further American investments in Poland, with particular consideration given to innovative industries, including space technology. One of the more important subjects of the planned meetings will be humanitarian aid and support for Ukraine in the crisis caused by the Russian attack.
During the talks, Minister Piotr Nowak will raise the issue of strengthening and developing transatlantic cooperation and tightening economic sanctions against Russia. In this context, it is also about the commitment of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to helping the war refugees from Ukraine and supporting the European Union countries that help Ukraine.
The talks will also focus on cooperation between the USA and the EU in the area of development of new technologies, access to raw materials and the involvement of the World Bank in the energy and digital transition.
The programme of the visit provides for meetings with:
- the United States Trade Representative, Ambassador Katherine Tai;
- the President of the World Bank, David R. Malpasse;
- the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva;
- the United States Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo;
- the representatives of the Atlantic Council;
- the President of the US-Poland Business Council (USPBC), Eric Stewart.
The Minister will be accompanied by the President of the Polish Space Agency (POLSA), Grzegorz Wrochna. Closer cooperation between space sector entities from Poland and the USA will be the subject of talks between Minister Nowak and the representatives of the US Department of International Security.
During the third day of his stay in the USA, Minister Nowak will meet with the representatives of the American company Virgin Orbit in Los Angeles. It is planned to sign a letter of intent between POLSA and Virgin Orbit regarding the introduction in Poland of LauncherOne technology to launch objects from a specially adapted aircraft into space.
