Information Society Department

The department works towards opening up public data, in particular for re-use in innovative products, goods and services. It develops the legal basis for the use of public sector information, implements projects ensuring its digital accessibility and usability, as well as runs the danepubliczne.gov.pl website. In cooperation with other offices, experts and NGOs, the department builds a digital skills development ecosystem for citizens in order to take care of broadening their knowledge and skills concerning the use of technology in solving everyday problems.

Tasks of the Department:

  1. Developing a policy of openness of data and re-use of public sector information, including setting standards for the tools used in this respect; 
  2. Coordinating activities related to the functioning and development of the Central Public Information Repository system; 
  3. Carrying out tasks pertaining to the implementation of the Public Data Opening Programme, including the coordination of activities of entities implementing the Programme;
  4. Carrying out projects concerning digital availability and usability of public sector information under the Digital Poland Operational Programme;
  5. Carrying out tasks related to expanding the knowledge and skills of citizens in the area of information and communication technologies (digital skills) and counteracting exclusion of citizens in this area; 
  6. On behalf of the Minister, performing the function of the Partnership Agreement Environment Institution within the scope of the third priority axis of the DP OP; 
  7. Carrying out research, analyses and coordinating the implementation of future European programmes (or parts thereof) in the area of digital skills; 
  8. Implementing tasks related to the implementation of European Union legal acts to the Polish legal system in the field of accessibility of public sector websites and applications, as well as in the field of re-use of public sector information.
