On 27 July this year, Minister Marlena Maląg met with José Luis Escriva, Spanish Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration in Warsaw. The meeting was dedicated to the situation on the labour market in Poland and Spain and support trends for the Ukrainian citizens.
The Polish-Spanish consultations were chaired by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Pedro Sanchez and attended by the ministers for social and family policy, economy, defence as well as transport and infrastructure.
The priority item in the meeting agenda was supporting the Ukrainian citizens forced to leave their country in effect of the Russian aggression. We discussed our experiences in providing aid and the directions of further support to the families who suffered due to war – says Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy
Situation on the labour market
The meeting covered also the situation on the labour market in both states.
We have the best situation on the Polish labour market since decades. We are one of the leaders in terms of low unemployment rate in the European Union. Our priority is to share our experience with the other European states – says Minister Marlena Maląg.
The intergovernmental meeting was also a perfect occasion to discuss the plans for the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council.
30 years of cooperation
Consultations have belonged to one of the major forms of cooperation between the governments of Poland and Spain since 2003. This-year consultations are scheduled at the 30th anniversary of signing the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, which enabled regulation of the mutual relations in the post-systemic transformation era. Both states apply this scheme only to the strategic partners.
The meeting was concluded with the adoption of a joint declaration on the directions of the Polish-Spanish cooperation development.
