A great facilitation for the holders of the Big Family Card. Draft included in the list of legislative works.

23.10.2020

The mObywatel application will be able to display each Big Family Card. The drat act introducing the solution have been entered in the schedule of legislative and programme works carried out by the Council of Ministers – informs the Ministry of Family and Social Policy.

Karta dużej rodziny

The Big Family Card is a system of discounts and additional rights granted to families with 3+ children granted by public institutions as well as private businesses. The discounts are offered for railway transportation, free admission to national parks, lower passport fees, as well as discounts on food, clothes, shoes, cosmetic products, books and petrol.

Since 2018, the Big Family Card is issued not only in traditional form, but also electronically – it can be displayed on a smartphone in a dedicated application. The current legislation requires the holders of the traditional cards to submit a relevant application in order to use the electronic version. This may change soon.

Large facilitation and limiting bureaucracy

The schedule of legislative and programme works of the Council of Ministers includes a bill allowing each Big Family Card held by an adult and minors with PESEL and an ID card or an electronic student ID card (regardless of the form it was applied for) to be displayed in the mObywatel mobile application.

This is great news for all large families. The electronic version of the Big Family Card available on the phone will be easier to use. In addition, the solution will limit bureaucracy and will allow to avoid the fee for the electronic Card – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

Minister Maląg believes that the new legislation and facilitating the use of Big Family Card will contribute to increasing the popularity of the programme. – We appreciate the efforts parents put into bringing up a larger number of children. We care to ensure that the programme continues to develop, to disseminate Big Family Card, to ensure that it provides real support to large families - says Marlena Maląg.

Big Family Card

Currently, over a million families use the Big Family Card. There are nearly 3.27 million active Cards – 3.17 million traditional and nearly 890 thousand electronic. The programme involves the participation of nearly 7.5 thousand partners, and the discounts are available at nearly 28 thousand locations.

In 2020, we have signed nearly 1.2 thousand agreements and annexes to the agreements with the partners of Big Family Cards. Footwear manufacturers – Bartek and Wojas, as well as SMYK chain of stores have joined the programme this year.

The Card is granted to each family member where the parent or parent’s spouse have at least three dependent children. Foster families and family-type children's homes can also benefit from the programme. The Card is issued to parents for a lifetime, while to the children until the age of 18 or 25 in the case of continuing education. Since 2019, each person who had ever had at least three or more dependent children may apply for the BFC.
