A record low number of the unemployed in October
25.11.2022
In October, 796 thousand unemployed people were registered in labour offices, i.e. 5.7 thousand fewer than in September. This is a result that we have not seen in more than three decades. “This data confirms the effectiveness of our actions” – stressed Marlena Maląg, Minister of Family and Social Policy.
The number of unemployed is decreasing month by month. This is exceptionally good news, considering that the effect of seasonal works is already diminishing. All this proves the effectiveness of our actions, both at the time of the pandemic and when the labour market faced the challenge of the influx of Ukrainian citizens. It is also important that we carry out strategic investments that create new jobs – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy.
The unemployment rate in October 2022 was 5.1%, similarly to the month before, and was in line with previous estimates of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. Compared to the end of October 2021, this figure is lower by 0.8 percentage point.
Poland remains a country with one of the lowest unemployment rates among EU countries. Only the Czech Republic is ahead of us. According to Eurostat calculations, the unemployment rate in Poland in September 2022 was 2.6 percent against 6 percent in the European Union and 6.6 percent in the euro area.
