Additional PLN 770 million to subsidise salaries of people with disabilities

22.04.2024

The Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People, Deputy Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Łukasz Krasoń, together with the Ministry of Finance, proposes a solution to meet the needs of the employee and employer community to support the professional activation of persons with disabilities. This is a mutual success of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy and the Ministry of Finance.

Additional PLN 770 million to subsidise salaries of people with disabilities

As of 2022, the minimum wage in Poland has increased significantly - from PLN 3010 at the end of 2022 to the planned PLN 4300 in July 2024. These changes were not followed by the amount of subsidies from the Reimbursement Service System of the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled People (SODIR System) for employers to the salaries of employees with disabilities and, as a result of this, people with disabilities began to lose their jobs on the open market and the spectre of loss of financial stability fell on Vocational Activity Establishments.

The solution proposed by the Government Plenipotentiary for Disabled People makes effective use of the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of Disabled People (PFRON) resources by increasing the statutory rates of wage subsidies by 15%.

Estimates assume total expenditure of PLN 220 million in 2024 and PLN 550 million in 2025. The following increase in subsidy rates has been assumed:

- for significant degree, a base amount will be PLN 2760 (previously PLN 2400),

- for moderate degree, the base amount will be PLN 1550 (previously PLN 1350),

- for light degree, the base amount will be PLN 575 (previously PLN 500).

In addition, for specific disabilities, the subsidy will increase by PLN 1380, PLN 1035, PLN 690 respectively (previously PLN 1200, PLN 900 or PLN 600), depending on the disability degree listed above.

Nurturing the empowerment of people with disabilities is important to all partners of the 15 October Coalition and is one of the important priorities of the government's social policy. Systemic support for employment as well as increasing public awareness of disabled people are among the most important tasks of the Government Plenipotentiary.

Vocational activation of people with disabilities is an important aspect of their daily functioning, having a positive impact on their quality of life. It is also an opportunity for employers to provide new opportunities for the development of their businesses and an important social action.
