The Task Team for planning measures in response to the negative effects of COVID-19 operates in the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy – Our priority is to protect Polish families, seniors, persons with disabilities, as well as employees and employers - stresses the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.
The Task Team operating in the Ministry aims to develop an action plan aiming to counteract the negative effects of COVID-19 before the second wave of the epidemic, as well as to prepare the institutions working in favour of persons with disabilities, the elderly and persons under alternative care for the related hazards.
As stressed by the Minister Marlena Maląg, the protection of Polish families, seniors, persons with disabilities as well as employees and employers are the Ministry's priority. – The initiatives taken by the Ministry which I manage have allowed Polish families to go through this difficult time within the past months - says the Minister. - We care for the effective protection of Polish families. We know that the pandemic has had an effect on the daily lives of many Polish families – she adds.
Protecting Families and Jobs
The Minister Maląg has pointed towards the shields, i.e. the rescue packages aimed at entrepreneurs and employees as the example of measures in protection of the Polish families. - Due to the shields, the Polish state has managed to save and continues to save numerous jobs, and - what is more important - gives a sense of safety to millions of Polish families - stresses the Minister.
The government assistance for the protection of jobs covers over PLN 123 billion. This means over 5 million saved jobs. We also issue a new benefit on an ongoing basis - the Solidarity Allowance. That is over PLN 172 billion in support for persons who have lost employment due to the pandemic.
The support for families also includes numerous social programmes, headed by “Family 500+”. The call for proposals under another edition of the “Good Start” programme, i.e. a one-off benefit for the school students who begin the school year is currently open. - The guarantee of the continuity of the benefits ensures the safety of Polish families - stresses the Minister Marlena Maląg.
