25.05.2020
Since the launch of the anti-crisis shield, aiming to counteract the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic, entrepreneurs have received support in the total amount of PLN 12.7 billion.
Job protection
So far, entrepreneurs have submitted a total of 4.6 million applications for support from instruments offered under the anti-crisis shield. One of the most important instruments of the anti-crisis shield includes subsidies for remunerations issued from the Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund. Employers can use this instrument in the case of so-called economic idle time or in the event of reduced working hours. - Protecting jobs was always one of our priorities. We have already allocated PLN 3.73 billion from the Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund for that purpose, informs Minister Marlena Maląg.
Loans to micro-businesses
Another support instrument includes loans to micro-entrepreneurs in the amount of up to PLN 5 thousand. They can be used to cover the current costs of running a business, e.g. taxes or costs of renting premises. The loan is low-interest and may be forgiven at the request of the micro-enterprise. The loan may be forgiven under the condition that the business activity is conducted for 3 months after the day on which the loan was granted.
Since the launch of the shield, 853.4 thousand loans have already been granted for a total of PLN 4.4 billion.
Idle time benefit
So far, 720.3 thousand idle time benefits for the self-employed and contractors have been paid out from the Social Insurance Institution in the amount of nearly PLN 1.43 billion.
Exemption from contributions
Another instrument implemented by the Social Insurance Institution is the possibility to be exempt from the obligation to pay insurance contributions. The exemption relates to contributions for social security, health insurance, the Labour Fund, the Solidarity Fund, the Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund and the Bridge Pension Fund.
The value of aid granted under this support instrument amounts to approximately PLN 1.81 billion.
Co-financing under EU funds.
Entrepreneurs can also apply for support from the European Social Fund under the anti-crisis shield. The funds received may be used, among other things, to subsidise a portion of the costs related to employee remuneration and a portion of the costs of running a business for people who do not employ employees. In total, nearly PLN 1.33 billion has already been paid out under this support instrument.
