Annuity and pensions adjustment index higher than prognosed

104.24 percent. – that is the index of pension and annuity valorisation for 2021. This exceeds the forecasts. As of 1 March, the lowest pension and disability benefit due to total inability to work will amount to PLN 1250.88 and will increase by PLN 50.88.
We already know all the values which determine the pension adjustment index.
he figures for the average annual price indices of consumer goods and services in general and for pensioners' households in 2020 (inflation) announced by the President of the Central Statistical Office (CSO) on 15 January 2021, amounted to: 103.4 and 103.9.
The average annual inflation rate for pensioner households in 2020 of 103.9 per cent was therefore adopted to determine the index of adjustment in 2021.
The real growth of the average salary in 2020, announced by the President of the Central Statistical Office on 9 February 2021, was in turn 1.7 per cent. (20 per cent real price growth - 0.34 per cent).
As a result, the pension index for 2021 is 104.24 per cent.
What does it mean in practice?
All pensions will be subject to a percentage adjustment based on the actual index of adjustment, in accordance with the scheme proposed in the law.
Beginning on 1 March 2021, the lowest pension (total disability pension, family pension and social pension) will amount to -– PLN 1250.88 and will increase by PLN 50.88.
For benefits at the level of PLN 2300 – the valorisation increase will amount to PN 97.52, while for benefits of PLN 2500 - PLN 106.00, and for benefits of PLN 3000 - PLN 127.20.
How much does it cost?
The total cost of valorisation of pensions and other benefits from the general, agricultural and uniformed system, is estimated at around PLN 10.6 billion. (at indexation of 104.24%).
