April with lowest unemployment since 1990

At the end of April 2024, the registered unemployment rate was 5.1% and 798,500 people were unemployed, according to estimates from the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy. Counting since 1991, there has never been a lower number of unemployed people or a lower registered unemployment rate in April.

April with lowest unemployment since 1990

As estimated by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, the registered unemployment rate at the end of April this year was 5,1%. - This is 0.2 percentage points lower than a month ago and in April 2023.

According to preliminary data, at the end of April 2024, the number of unemployed people registered with labour offices fell to 798,500 - both on a monthly and annual basis, a rate of decline of 2.9%.

In the number of registered unemployed at the end of April 2024, there were 13,100 unemployed Ukrainian citizens and they accounted for 1.6% of the total number of registered jobless.

Counting since 1991, there has never been a lower number of unemployed people or a lower registered unemployment rate in April.

According to preliminary data, in April this year, employers reported 88,100 job vacancies and occupational activation places to labour offices, similar to the month before and by 6,800 (8.4%) more than in April 2023.

Eurostat: Poland with the lowest unemployment rate in the EU

Good news on the labour market situation is also coming from outside Poland. According to Eurostat, the unemployment rate in Poland in March 2024 was 2.9%, placing Poland - together with the Czech Republic - on the first place among EU countries with the lowest level of unemployment. In comparison, the EU average was 6% and the Eurozone average was 6.5%.

Second place in March this year went to Slovenia with an unemployment rate of 3.1%, and third place to Germany and Malta with 3.2%.
