Austrian experiences in the integration of the Ukrainians

Minister Marlena Maląg expressed her interest in the Austrian integration arrangements for the reception of refugees and migrants, in particular the Ukrainian citizens.

It is time for systemic solutions.

She also outlined the measures the Polish government is taking up in this respect. She stressed how important it is to integrate the Ukrainians on the Polish labour market. - We are currently working on systemic solutions, because we are aware of the fact that many of them may stay in our country longer - said Minister Maląg.

Minister Maląg also mentioned the ongoing pilot programme on the integration centres for foreigners.

Mobile integration sites

Minister Susanne Raab expressed her great appreciation for what the Polish government and the Polish citizens have done so far and are still doing in the current situation. She referred to the Austrian experiences from the years 2015/16 when a large wave of refugees arrived there - the existing integration facilities were extended then.

Minister Raab finds it a priority to distribute the newcomers evenly across the country, to establish integration centres in each region and to teach them the language, including the school children. She also discussed the system of mobile integration sites offering useful information on the social allowances, labour market, health care and education.

There are currently approx. 200 thousand Ukrainians staying in Austria, having arrived in there after 24 February.
