Breaks
The right to a rest break from work depends on the amount of working time in a given day.
If an employee works in a given day:
- at least 6 hours – they are entitled to a rest break of at least 15 minutes,
- more than 9 hours – they are entitled to an additional rest break of at least 15 minutes,
- more than 16 hours – they are entitled to a further break of at least 15 minutes.
These breaks count as working time, which means, among other things, that the employer may not require the employee to work them off at a later date.
