Celebrations of the 12th anniversary of the Smolensk air disaster

On 10 April, there is the 12th anniversary of the Smolensk air disaster. The memory of the late President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński and his wife, the First Lady, Maria and other members of the Polish delegation who had died during this tragedy was honoured by the representatives of the highest state authorities. The celebrations are attended by the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.
The celebrations on Sunday started with a morning holy mass at the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and of St. Joseph in Warsaw. The participants in the morning holy mass, commemorating the 12th anniversary of the Smolensk air disaster, went to the Presidential Palace in Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw, where the Appeal of Remembrance was read and then the flowers were laid.
Tribute to the victims of the disaster
The next point of the celebrations was the laying of flowers at the monument of the late President Lech Kaczyński and at the Monument to the Victims of the Smolensk Tragedy on the Marszałek Józef Piłsudski Square.
Mass for the victims of the disaster
Minister Marlena Maląg will also participate in the Holy Mass for the victims of the disaster. The Mass will begin at 19:00 in the St. John’s Archcathedral in Warsaw.
Celebration of the 12th Anniversary of the Smolensk air disaster
The celebrations of the 12th anniversary of the Smolensk air disaster began on Friday with the laying of flowers under a plaque remembering President Lech Kaczyński, Deputy Prime Minister Przemysław Gosiewski and Minister Zbigniew Wasserman in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. The wreaths were laid by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński together with the members of the Council of Ministers.
On Friday, the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg and Deputy Minister Stanisław Szwed laid the flowers under a plaque commemorating Izabela Jaruga-Nowacka, former Minister of Social Policy in the years 2004-2005.
