Changes in social employment already certain

Counteracting marginalisation and social exclusion is a very important mission. It is achieved, among others, by social integration centres and clubs - through professional and social reintegration. Over 15 years have passed since the Act on Social Employment came into force, and a lot has changed in that time.

- We want this assistance to be even more effective, to be best adapted to today's realities. This is happening - President Andrzej Duda has just signed an amendment to the Act on Social Employment. This is an important step - emphasises the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

What will change?

The most important solutions included in the amendment signed by the President are:

  • increasing the integration benefit (to 120% of the unemployment benefit for the entire period of participation in the CIS, including the trial period),
  • making the time of participation in social integration centres more flexible (up to 30 hours a week (currently 6 hours a day) and extending the possibility to extend the period of participation in CIS
  • abandoning the condition of poverty when referring to CIS.

- We are keen to encourage socially excluded people to take active steps by participating in classes organised by social integration centres. This will allow them to gain competences and qualifications which will enable them to find employment - points out Minister Maląg.

This also includes, among others, the possibility to establish Social Integration Centres and Social Integration Clubs by social cooperatives of both legal persons and natural persons or the possibility to receive a grant from the Marshal of the voivodeship in the case of extending a centre or creating a workshop in another municipality. Until now, such a subsidy was only for equipment.

This is not the end

The amendment also includes the Act on Upbringing in Sobriety and Counteracting Alcoholism in the scope of allocating funds obtained by the commune from fees for issuing permits for selling alcoholic beverages also for tasks performed by CIS and KIS.

Most of the provisions will come into force after 14 days from the date of the announcement.
