Unit description:
The Department of International Cooperation is responsible, with regard to the government departments family, social security and labour, for the implementation and coordination of matters arising from EU membership, the implementation of international bilateral and multilateral cooperation, foreign trips and meetings concerning international cooperation of the Minister, Secretaries of State, Undersecretaries of State or the Director General.
The Department's main areas of activity include:
- coordination of the Ministry's participation in the EU decision-making process;
- implementation of matters related to the participation of the Minister, Secretary of State or relevant Under-Secretary of State in the meetings of the Committee for European Affairs;
- coordinating the Ministry's bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including giving opinions on international agreements concluded by the Ministry;
- coordination of the Ministry's cooperation with the European Parliament and fulfilment of obligations arising from the provisions on cooperation of the Council of Ministers with the Sejm and the Senate of the Republic of Poland on matters relating to Poland's membership in the EU;
- coordination of the Ministry's cooperation with the UN and the Council of Europe on social issues;
- substantive cooperation with the Section for Social Policy, Employment and Equal Opportunities at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU;
- monitoring the Ministry's work on the alignment of Polish law with EU law and coordination of work related to proceedings before the CJEU, the EU Court and the EFTA Court;
- monitoring proceedings conducted by the European Commission concerning the compatibility of Polish law with EU law and coordinating the preparation by the relevant departments of the Minister's positions within these proceedings;
- preparing business trips abroad for the Minister, Secretaries of State, Undersecretaries of State or the Director-General and organising visits of foreign guests and international meetings at the level of the Ministry's executives, in cooperation with other Departments of Offices;
- implementation of tasks related to foreign business travel by Ministry employees and non-Ministry employees carrying out business travel on behalf of the Ministry.
